Chiaki Uehira (b. 1996, Japan) is a sound and media artist based in Osaka. Grounded in programming and computer science, their practice moves across sound, installation, video, and software. Treating code not as a mere tool but as a material for shaping perception, they overlay subtle interference and delay, algorithmic structure, and the uncertainty of natural phenomena to create spaces where layers of time and sensation quietly emerge. They are the founder of I/O STUDIO and the representative of PIXELGRAM LLC, and also perform as a DJ.

上平千晶（1996年生まれ）は、大阪を拠点に活動するサウンド／メディアアーティスト。プログラミングとコンピュータサイエンスを基盤に、サウンド、インスタレーション、映像、ソフトウェアを横断して制作を行う。コードを単なる手段ではなく知覚をかたちづくる素材として扱い、かすかな干渉や遅延、アルゴリズムによる構築と自然現象の不確定性を重ね合わせることで、時間と感覚のレイヤーが静かに立ち上がる場を生み出す。I/O STUDIO 主宰、合同会社 PIXELGRAM 代表。DJ としても活動している。

My work begins where logic and ambiguity, structure and resonance meet — in the “fluctuation” that arises within a contemporary sensory environment where everything is entangled. For me, the computer and nature are no longer opposites; together with our bodies, they are already woven into a single, continuous environment. I treat technology not as a means of efficiency or control, but as a medium that updates the very frameworks of perception.

Through programming and experimental systems, I overlay subtle interference, delay, algorithmic structure, and the uncertainty of natural phenomena, so that layers of time and sensation can quietly rise. I want sound and image to be met not as information, but as spatial, physical phenomena that unfold through duration and the presence of each viewer. There is no clear answer — only a margin in which to keep thinking.

私の制作は、論理と曖昧さ、構造と余韻——あらゆるものが絡まり合う現代の感覚環境に生じる “ゆらぎ” から始まる。私にとってコンピュータと自然はもはや相反するものではなく、私たちの身体とともに、すでにひとつの連続した環境として織り成されている。技術を効率や制御の手段としてではなく、感覚や知覚の枠組みそのものを更新するメディアとして捉えている。

プログラミングと実験的なシステムを通して、かすかな干渉や遅延、アルゴリズムによる構築と自然現象の不確定性を重ね合わせ、時間と感覚のレイヤーが静かに立ち上がる場をつくる。音や映像を、情報としてではなく、時間と、観る人それぞれの身体を通して立ち現れる空間的・身体的な現象として体験してほしい。そこに明確な答えはなく、ただ “考え続ける余白” だけがある。
