Chiaki Uehira is a Japanese sound artist and programmer born in 1996. With a background in programming and computer science, their practice spans sound, music, software, hardware, video, and installation. Through research-driven and experimental development, they explore relationships between sound and noise, data and code, and space and physicality, investigating how computational systems shape perception and experience.

上平千晶は1996年生まれのサウンドアーティスト／プログラマー。 プログラミングとコンピュータサイエンスを基盤に、音楽、サウンド、ソフトウェア、ハードウェア、映像、インスタレーションを横断した制作を行う。音とノイズ、データとコード、空間と身体性の関係性を主題に、計算システムが知覚や体験に与える影響を探求している。

My practice explores the relationships between sound and noise, data and code, and space and physical presence. Through programming and experimental system design, I construct environments where subtle interference, delay, and algorithmic structures shape perception over time.

I am interested in how computational processes—often invisible or abstract—can be translated into sensory experiences. Rather than treating technology as a tool for efficiency or control, I approach it as a medium that introduces uncertainty, resonance, and transformation. By working across sound, installation, and performance, I aim to create situations where listeners encounter sound not as information, but as a spatial and physical phenomenon unfolding through interaction and duration.

私の制作は、音とノイズ、データとコード、空間と身体性の関係性を探ることから始まります。 プログラミングや実験的なシステム設計を通して、干渉や遅延、アルゴリズム的構造が時間とともに知覚へ影響を与える環境を構築しています。

不可視で抽象的な計算プロセスが、どのように感覚的な体験へと変換されうるのかに関心があります。技術を効率や制御のための道具としてではなく、不確定性や共鳴、変容を内包するメディアとして捉え、サウンド、インスタレーション、パフォーマンスを横断しながら、音を情報ではなく、空間的・身体的に立ち現れる現象として体験させる状況の生成を試みています。
