折重なる反響と波のゆくさき

"Resonances, Waves, and Futures" is an installation first shown in 2024. It observes the ambiguity of people and objects, the interference of past sound, and the way those waves fold over one another. At the centre of the space stands a transparent box fitted with several speaker units. From them, audio extracted from ten years of videos saved on the artist's own smartphone plays back — many sources at once, at random. No combination ever repeats, so each visitor hears a wave that exists only in that moment. A camera in the space captures visitors' movements, and a computer turns them into particles projected onto a five-metre wall. In the image, visitors from the past and the visitor present now overlap within the same space. Sound and image each affect the other's output, continually reshaping themselves. Taking as its premise the idea that "everything is both a particle and a wave," the work brings the intersection of past and present into being through sight and sound. As past audio interferes with the present and the future, a complex, unpredictable fusion of sound and image emerges. Observing change that lasts only an instant, the viewer traces the blurred boundaries between past, present, and future, and reconsiders the influence the past exerts on what is now and what is to come.

本作《折重なる反響と波のゆくさき》は、2024年に発表したインスタレーション。人や物体の曖昧さ、過去の音声による干渉、そしてそれらの波が折り重なっていく様子を観測する作品です。 空間の中央には、複数のスピーカーユニットを備えた透明な箱が置かれています。スピーカーからは、アーティスト自身のスマートフォンに残された過去10年分の動画から抽出した音声が、複数同時に、ランダムに再生されます。その組み合わせが同じになることは決してなく、鑑賞者はその瞬間にしか存在しない波を聴き取ることになります。 会場に設置されたカメラは鑑賞者の動きを捉え、コンピュータがそれを粒子へと変換して、5メートルの壁へ投影します。映像の中では、過去に訪れた鑑賞者と、いまそこにいる鑑賞者とが、同じ空間に重なり合います。音声と映像は互いの出力に影響を与え合いながら、たえず自らの姿を変えていきます。 「すべてのものは粒子であり、波でもある」という概念を起点に、過去と現在の交錯を視覚と聴覚で立ち上げる試みです。過去の音声が現在と未来に干渉することで、複雑で予測のつかない音と映像の融合が生まれます。鑑賞者は、その瞬間だけの変化を観測しながら、過去・現在・未来の境界の曖昧さを辿り、過去が現在や未来に及ぼす影響を見つめ直すことになります。
